Active Workplace
The BC Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA) recognizes the important role that work environments play in the physical activity levels of British Columbians. Healthy workplaces benefit organizations and individuals alike and result in improved productivity, fewer insurance and worker compensation claims, reduced absenteeism, and improved staff attitudes towards the organization.

Some of our Active Communities are workplaces while other communities have developed strong and successful workplace wellness programs.
BCRPA uses a comprehensive approach to a healthy workplace that addresses:
- Voluntary health practices
- The physical environment and
- The social environment and personal resources
Tools and Resources
BCRPA has developed an Active
Workplace Workbook, to assist registered Active Communities
and workplaces in the public, private and not-for-profit sector
with developing a workplace wellness program.

BCRPA Fitness Leaders in the workplace Are you a community looking to run a lunch-hour fitness class in your office or in need of a personal trainer to come to the workplace to assist with your health and wellness programs?
The BCRPA’s Fitness Program has a directory of Fitness Leaders who are willing to come into your community or workplace to offer fitness classes, one-on-one training or a training or a variety of other exercise-related activities for you, your staff and your community members. To connect with a BCRPA Fitness Leader, send an email to reception@bcrpa.bc.ca indicating the type of Fitness Leader you are interested in and a list of the Fitness Leaders in your area will be provided.
